Aim & objectives:
India is a country with rich tradition and heritage. But with changing times the joint family system has given way to nuclear family system. Values are changing and the new generation has started aping culture forgetting their deep rooted traditions. Thus the need of the hour is to imbibe moral and social values in our children, so that they do not become victims of broken homes and insecure lives. So, a visit to an old age home was felt necessary.
58 students of Primary Section (classes III, IV and V) of K.V.Khanapara were taken to “AMAR GHAR” an old age home situated at V.I.P road in Guwahati on 11th August 2009. They were accompanied by three teachers of the school. The students were taken there to interact with the inmates. The purpose of the interaction was to make the young children realize about family bonding and values. Students can cultivate the qualities of Caring and Sharing and have respect for the elders. All the intimates were felicitated with bouquets, gamochas and self-made cards. The students entertained the senior citizens with songs, dances and jokes. The inmates narrated beautiful stories to the students and also sang to their hearts content. It was a very enriching as well as momentous experience for all.
